A Just Economy

Description

Key Questions

  • Is there a set of just distributive rules that would satisfy individuals across most of the political spectrum?
  • What are those rules?
  • What steps would help to erode the political obstacles to the adoption of such rules?

Economies promote greater wellbeing when founded on just distributions. Individuals across the political spectrum currently perceive our economy as morally wanting: it is too unequal, allows too much poverty, and lacks sufficient economic mobility. Current solutions are themselves seen as unjust by some or are apparently ineffective. We seek means to build, test, and apply new economic policies to solve these problems without exacerbating others, namely through inefficiency and unfreedom.
