The data we collect on our website is very different from the data we collect as part of our research studies, so the processes for handling each type of data are also different. Information We Collect on Our Website

Knology’s website uses cookies to collect website usage data through the Google Analytics service. You may opt out here. These cookies do not store personally identifiable information.

We collect information from users who subscribe to our newsletter through Mailchimp. This information includes your name, email address, and your research areas of interest. You can remove this information from our newsletter mailing list at any point by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any of our newsletter emails. You can also request to stop receiving emails or to delete your data from our system by emailing info@knology.org.

To make a comment on any post on the Knology website, you will submit both your comment and name. This information will be public after our moderators review and approve your submission.

How We Use Information Collected on Our Website

The information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

  • We collect cookie information to understand how people use our website, so we can improve it.
  • We collect personal information in our newsletter subscription form so that we can send periodic emails through Mailchimp that are relevant to users’ interests.
  • To improve our communications, marketing, and audience analysis on our social media platform (Twitter).

How do we protect your information?

When website users subscribe to the Knology newsletter, their information (name, email address, and research areas of interest) will be stored in a secured cloud location that is password protected and accessible only to Knology personnel.

Do we disclose information to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information.

Our website and related systems are in compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act. We do not distribute your personal information to outside parties. If you would like to review, change, or delete the personally identifiable information that Knology retains in its newsletter subscription records, please contact us at privacy@knology.org.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act

We do not collect information from anyone under the age of 13. In the event that we do, at any time, collect information from anyone under the age of 13 through this website, we will do so in compliance with the requirements of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
