KT is a learning scientist focused on informal education and professional learning. KT serves as the Director of Learning and Research at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, where they lead a portfolio of research, evaluation, and professional development projects centering equity and social justice at the intersection of research and practice in museums. KT brings more than 15 years of experience conducting social science research with a focus on equitable learning in out-of-school settings. They advocate for culturally responsive, humanizing, and transformative research and evaluation practices, infusing creativity as they use data as a tool for change.

KT has led the research and evaluation for more than 10 federally funded projects supported by NSF, NOAA, NASA, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services—investigating topics such as belonging, anti-racist practices in museums, emotional accessibility, youth identity, and more. They hold a Bachelor of Science in Decision Science from Carnegie Mellon University, a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard University, and a Doctorate of Education in Out-of-School Learning from the University of Pittsburgh. KT is an accomplished writer and speaker, having published over 30 peer-reviewed papers and products, with an extensive record of sharing research, poetry, and inspiration at professional conferences and as an invited speaker at universities and organizations.
