Research Fellow

Lavanya Murali is a linguistic and cultural anthropologist who studies ideologies and discourse at the intersection of nationalism, class, and gender, through the lens of the cultural politics of English. She is broadly interested in ideas of belonging and othering and how they are enacted and communicated through discourse, ideologies, and behavior. For much of her career, she was an academic anthropologist, a hat she has now traded for that of applied anthropologist.
