Global Climate Action, Museums

Sarah is a museum professional helping to shift the sector toward climate action at every level. She supports networks of institutions adapting to the changing climate and taking field-wide and cross-sector action on climate change. She is the co-author (as Sarah Brophy) of both editions of The Green Museum: A Primer on Environmental Practice, and author of Environmental Sustainability at Historic Sites and Museums. As Principal of Sustainable Museums, she gathered the US cultural sector in opposition to the United States’ 2017 announcement of intended withdrawal from the Paris Agreement. In 2018 that group was adopted by We Are Still In, the largest coalition of organizations in the world that support the Paris Agreement. She is now an Executive Committee member for We Are Still In and Lead for its culture sector. Sarah is also an instructor on museums and climate action in the Harvard Extension School Museum Studies Program.
