Elliott Bowen

Writing and Communications Lead

Elliott Bowen is the writing and communications lead at Knology. A medical humanities scholar with a background in history, he is the author of several studies exploring responses to sexually-transmitted diseases in the 20th century United States—including In Search of Sexual Health: Diagnosing and Treating Syphilis in Hot Springs, Arkansas, 1890-1940 (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2020). Prior to joining Knology, he was an assistant professor at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan. At Knology, Elliott manages writing and communication work across the organization. He leads reporting on Knology’s partner-driven projects, and is responsible for presenting Knology’s work product to the organization’s varied audiences. He also manages the Knology website, directs its social media efforts, and produces its monthly newsletter. As both a writer and communications manager, Elliott’s work contributes to Knology’s goal of bringing about positive social change through the advancement of actionable, outcome-oriented social sciences research.
